Theres nothing one person can say to ease the suffering of people going through horrific times, the untimely death of loved ones being one of the worst things any of us might suffer.
We were all deeply saddened to hear of any suffering and tragedy
While we whish also the news would try to give more of a balanced focus to things so that we do not become lost in the mire of grief and bitterness that can come from suffering.
To the victims families we must show support and also make it meaningful in the way we treat all people around us here and now – for if grief tells us one thing – it is that we should value life.
It is the shame of right wing tabloid news hawks who seek to politicise events of great suffering – to create culture war naratives that serve a darker purpose.
The demonisation of those from other cultures – creates more suffering
Such is the shame of GBnews who regularly parade their presenters on to lecture us all on why the crimes caused by one individual whom here happens to be an immigrant, means we have to prejudge all refugees and migrants as dangerious and not wanted.
This ideology only creates more suffering, and whats more it distracts care and support away from victims – while also distorts many of the background issues.
It is these same presenters who harp on about good western “Christian values” – but only when it suits their right wing naratives of culture war.. never when it comes to what should be the core aspects of their religion.
A religion that is specifically focused on the healing of suffering at an individual level but also a societal level – shows us we should work together to create safer – stronger community bonds.
It is very dangerious to create culture wars out of tragedy
Because that will only further alienate people on all devides of the community, as people who give in to fear will limit the scope of their own thinking because of it.
We also should notice these same TV pundits never state crime statistics for Brits who travel abroad – its not like they recommend deporting All Brits from abroad if some of them happen to commit crimes – they dont do this Because they know it is correct to project prejudice against people.
The other issues the right wing press minimise while they try to turn social issues into culture division
For example the dont even mention the Tory government cuts that killed thousands of people in our hospitals and among the disabled, see the Guardian article for details where they state – Austerity in England linked to more than 50,000 extra deaths in five years
I say – if GBnews really cared about people – why not politisise these issues?
Also why not highlight that Police also suffered from austerity – now overworked and understaffed they are working harder than ever to attend to crimes and should be supported within healthy community policing to try to avoid these devistating killings in future.
Why not also highlight that we were all told Austerity was to reduce the UK deficit, but the Debt has gone up – why?
Why do so many of these right wing headline stations turn everything into a divisive culture war – rather than talking about some of the key issues.
