This last week atmospheric CO2 reached 424.4 ppm – it is a new record high in human history. We have to ask – is there any hope?
The last time the concentration of CO2 was as high as 400 ppm was probably in the Pliocene Epoch, between 2.6 million and 5.3 million years ago.
Until the 20th century, it certainly hadn’t exceeded 300 ppm, let alone 400 ppm, for at least 800,000 years.
There is also evidence to say most of that CO2 is man made.. plus what is worse is the amount of methaine now getting up there – released from defrosted permafrost (caused by climate change) but also from the fracking industry.. & all our politicians do nothing.
It is sobering to think we have 2000+ years of technology, culture and history.. all put at risk by corruption and greed.. it is enough to make anyone weep – and indeed is likely another one of the cuases of the mental health crisis affecting so many at the moment.
The idea we all live in a blind and corrupt society is uterly soul destroying.
But we must stay strong for the good fight.
