The continued attacks on the Stop the War Coalition is a damning indictment on our political culture and ability to tolerate different political opinions on complex global situations. Trying to proscribe an organisation that you disagree with is really odd when you think about it. Why not just disagree and campaign for a different position? Why not try to win the argument instead of trying to silence those who hold different views? Stop the War has thousands of amazing peace campaigners involved in their organisation. Imagine thinking and trying to paint them as the threat?
Laura who is the National Secretary of the @pplsassembly (The Peoples Assembly) – works closely with major unions and affiliated groups to collectively fight cuts to public services that affect negatively on so many of us, as well as working to highlight inequality and Tory injustice.
Stop the War was founded in October 2001, one month after George W. Bush announced the “war on terror” and has since been dedicated to ending the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, bringing the troops home and forcing the British government to change its disastrous foreign policies. We have initiated many campaigns around these issues and are committed to opposing sanctions and military attacks on Iran, supporting Palestinian rights, opposing racism and defending civil liberties.
