I can’t say how disheartening it is to see Labour dismiss universal social care. Disabled and older people are skipping meals to pay for someone to help them to the toilet. Look them in the eye and tell them NHS-style social care provision is “unaffordable.”
Other comentators online highlight how much it might cost to fund such a political idea – others point out how many jobs it could create, and from that be a huge inpact on local communities; if the UK government took more control of social care rather than outsourcing it to low quoting and under acheiving private firms.
