The Tory ten year plan to freeze NHS spending in real terms and reduce it as a share of GDP by 2020 looks likely to come to fruition because of their incompetency addressing our COVID-related healthcare, and the wastage of millions re-ordering inadequate PPE for clinical staff.

I’m an NHS patient, living with one life-threatening illness and several chronic illnesses. This epidemic has forced me to self-shield, and see my GP much less. I was reminded by her that she would need to dress up in order to protect me from potentially being infected. I have many friends, who are also getting less time with their clinicians.
Dominic Cummings, chief adviser to the PM, famously drove his car for more than 10 miles to check whether he could see well enough. His comments about not worrying if a few “hundred old people” are sacrificed is still alive in the memories of many citizens, particularly the workers in care homes where funding from cash-starved local councils is no longer available, or reduced.
My Asthma was so bad recently that my GP sent me to A&E. I pushed my way into triage, feeling terrible but knowing I would have been dead if I hadn’t. I will most certainly die well before ‘my time’ without the Health Service, and so will many others. It needs millions of us on the streets making noise, as well as letters to our own local MPs, petitioning, media-talking and article-scribing like this one to help save #OURNHS.
