For a second time Starmer apologists have to dig deep in their book of unbelievable excuses to explain away a humiliating 4.2% poll performance.
The Starmerites said that Labour’s catastrophic 9.7% vote share in the North Shropshire parliamentary by-election was all down to tactical voting, not for them but for the previous third place LibDems.
To the Tories’ astonishment, and Labour’s humiliation, the LibDems romped to victory and with a majority which was nearly twice Labour’s pathetic 3,600 vote!
The New Forest District council by-election was called after Tory cabinet member Cllr Mark Steele resigned in protest at the manner in which the Tory council leader was removed from the National Park Authority after he admitted breaking environmental laws at the family-owned scrap yard.
