Netanyahu funded Hamas. He even bragged about it. It might seem cruel or crude to say these things but they have historical basis – some of us hearing first hand testament from Palestinians in Gaza saying that upon the rise of Hamas politically they were even given many perks by the Israeli government to allow them to beat the PLO in an election.
“During the elections IDF people would go around places taking down PLO leaflets or notices but they would leave the Hamas notes up.. you have to ask why?”
If the Israeli government actually believed in a workable and peaceful 2 state solution, why would they push for the promotion of a Palestinian militant group who did not support any diplomatic solution?

Many people try to highlight these facts as if it might help to bring some balance back to the situation – because for a peaceful solution to be found diplomacy can only come from political groups willing to discuss diplomacy.
