Chatting with relatives over the weekend about their chosen friendly paper (I wont tell you what it is because I dont want to mention the sordid name), talking also about how things have changed over the last 10 years; while the UK has always had a very centre right media (much like the USA) the last few years have seen an ever more creep to the right.
This fact clearly demonstrated by the fact that Spectator writers now feature prominantly in both the Guardian and the i News – those whom I previously took small refuge from are now clearly propogating a right wing narative.
The great hypocracy being how even right wing pundits call out every week how left wing the media is (when it is anything but).. it all comes accross as a premeditated plan to pull us ever increasingly more and more to the right – all while statisics show that most voters clearly support left wing policies if explained properly.
Could this all be why the media focus more on identity politics rather than actual policy? it gives them free rain to cut and edit any news feature to talk about anything other than what the actual issues are. This is the nature of our “free press”
