Three of the best-loved figures on the Labour left – Laura Smith, Ian Lavery and Jon Trickett – have published their full report on their ‘Zoom tour’ meeting thousands of working-class people in 30 towns, hearing why working-class communities abandoned Labour in 2019.

The trio found that overwhelmingly the party’s Brexit ‘betrayal’ and disrespect for those communities’ referendum vote had driven the exodus – and have demanded a public apology from Keir Starmer, the architect of the policy U-turn on Labour’s 2017 commitment to respect the EU referendum result. The three MPs have now published their report in full and it can be downloaded in PDF format here.
So afraid did the so-called ‘centrists’ seem to be that they launched a pre-emptive smear claiming that Lavery and Trickett had supported the u-turn – a smear laughably easy to disprove.
