The rich and the powerful were digging through our social foundations in order to extract what they could turn into profit for themselves. If you were not rich and not powerful you suffered.
But I added the point that those smiling at their Rolls Royces inside their gated communities were slow to realise that when you wreck social foundations eventually the damage reaches everyone.
And now Trump is engaged in INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL FRACKING.
Commentators argue this way and that way about each of his confusing policies, but individually and collectively they are destructive. NATO, the U.N., EU, carefully drawn up treaties, mean nothing to him.
Some well paid commentators and would-be allies try to rationalise and approve of whatever comes into his head, even when it contradicts what he said yesterday.
“Ah yes but…. you have to look at it like this.”
To me Trump is fracking both the USA and all of those countries that imagined that they benefited from a positive relationship with it.
Let him climb to the top of the tallest Trump Tower while unknown to him the fracking of its foundations gets closer and closer.
