David Miliband has accused Jeremy Corbyn of using “wrecking tactics” against Keir Starmer after he accused some Labour staff of sabotaging the 2017 election.
No, that headline is not satire. The Richard the third look alike from his charity funded home in the USA really has had the cheek and the audacity to blame Socialists for being Socialists. The story unfolds below.
Speaking over the weekend, allies of the former Labour leader said it was “not impossible that Jeremy Corbyn might now be in his third year as a Labour prime minister were it not for the unauthorised, unilateral action taken by a handful of senior party officials”.
But the comments drew fury from Mr Miliband, the former Labour foreign secretary and one-time leadership hopeful, who said the effort to blame party staff was a “pure wrecking tactic from Jeremy Corbyn and the Corbynites”.
In an interview with Times Radio, Mr Miliband said: “Denial after four successive defeats is a route to more defeats.
“We learnt that after 1992 and we got out of denial and we won in 1997 and actually we won three elections on the trot.”
This denial of responsibility for Labour being defeated in 2017 and again in 2019 could only come from an unreconstructed Blairite. So lets look at what Miliband does for a living. As head of the USA based “international rescue”charity, Miliband is paid £680,000 a year. This is a charity that is supposed to help the poorest refugees into a better life. The man who was part of Blair’s illegal wars now benefits to the tune of around £13,000 a week to sweep up the very mess he made.
So why did Milliband leave for the USA in the first place? We have it on good authority that it was insisted on by his wife, Louise who could stand the humiliation no longer.
In his old constituency of South Shields, where he was an MP from 2001 until 2013, his tawdry affairs were legendary. One ex Labour pary member has told us that the Miliband business trips were a well known euphemism for extra marital activities.
David Miliband does seem to like money, power and prestige a great deal. A few years ago this became public knowledge:
The Daily Telegraph’s investigation of expenses claims by Members of Parliament reported that Miliband had claimed for gardening expenses and approximately £30,000 in repairs, decorations and furnishings for his constituency home in South Shields. A spokesperson said: “At every stage, David Miliband followed the procedures and rules as laid out by the parliamentary authorities”
