In 2004, Hurricane Ivan brought down a massive oil platform operated by Taylor Energy, in the Gulf of Mexico. For years, oil has been seeping into the Gulf.
It wasnt till 2018 that government actually stepped in because of the 1000s of barrels of oil leaking raw into the Gulf each day!
The Oil company in question hid the quantities of oil being leaked for nearly a decade saying the small amounts of oil being leaked were just droplets.
When investigators actually went down to investigate in 2018 they vound an untapped volcano of oil errupting loose into the polluted deepwater.
Tayler Energy actually are trying to take the cleanup team to court for trespassing; as well as multiple other court actions designed to absolve them from any responsibility for the disaster.
Taylor Energy even tried to go to court to recover all money they had given for the cleanup trust (a fund that is given to help clean long term environmental effects)
And we ask ourselves why are we still using this dirty old technology – why are not more people calling to Just Stop Oil.
