Boris Johnson has seemingly made it explicit that he does not value human lives at all. According to a quotation, he has said the following; –
“No more f*cking lockdowns – let the bodies pile high in their thousands.”
Source.
The quotation is denied by Cabinet Ministers, but that proves nothing really.
Johnson despises his loyalest supporters
That Johnson cares little for the people who are supposed to be his responsibility is no surprise. His constant compromises of public safety throughout the Covid-19 pandemic have made that clear. From locking down too slowly, to leaving airports open at all times, to furloughing the working population only intermittently, to encouraging people to “eat out to help out” when the virus was not yet under control, to using the pandemic response as a vehicle for enriching cronies, Johnson’s handling of the crisis has been an object lesson in gesturism and bad priorities.
Therefore, I feel no particular outrage at this quote, be it real or fake, be it leaked by Dominic Cummings as part of their recent “lovers’ tiff,” or by a civil servant. What is so aggravating is that Johnson’s utter indifference to the safety of the British people will make no difference. His sycophantic supporters, especially among the working class, will continue backing him without a break in stride. This is because it will never occur to them that the ‘bodies’ he refers to would undoubtedly include every single one of theirs. The only ones he would sacrifice before them are voters who support his opponents. Because Johnson personifies the mindless jingoism that so many Englishmen find irresistible, they just casually assume that the bodies piled high will be bodies of socialists, who hardly count as British because they are “treacherous,” and immigrants.
Selective patriot
Johnson can make a good show of loving all things British, but he does not. He hates more things British than he likes. He likes rich people. Rugby (Union only though, not Rugby League.) Waving flags. Imperialist poems. Jokes that are cruel instead of humorous. Private school. Superiority.
What Johnson dislikes is practically everything else British. Football. Co-operative feeling. Tinned food. Free healthcare. Real humour. Empathy. Most particularly, he holds the British working class in complete contempt. He finds them dirty and scary.
But he knows how to manipulate them. When you can manipulate someone, you can sacrifice them. Not only will they not try to stop you, they will probably thank you for the honour. To people he regards with the greatest contempt, Boris Johnson is Teflon. Nothing will burn him. Nothing will lower their estimate of him, least of all his low estimate of them. Partly because they mistake it for a low estimate of others.
Of course he would sacrifice you without a second thought. Just remember to have a first thought, and not applaud him for destroying you.
