Every day, in almost every way, this new Labour government is showing us that the Tories left office in name only, and that the unquenchable rot begun by them in 2010, continues on today under a series of cruel cuts and policies that bear absolutely no semblance to anything even remotely comparable, to the socialist values that Labour was actually built upon. Attacking the sick and disabled, rampant cronyism, war-mongering, self-servitude. The list of comparatives goes on.
Today, we are watching a Labour government that is increasingly putting profit over people, and people after privilege, despite what any of their regularly touted ‘Three Word Slogans’ might be saying, and also contra to what socialism actually stands for.
The three word slogan, if you will recall, was used a great deal by the Tories when they were in office, in phrases such as ‘Strong and Stable’, ‘Build Back Better’, and ‘Hands Face Space’ and although they were claimed to have been the brainchild of Tory political advisor, Dominic Cummings, they were actually a propaganda device devised by Joseph Goebbels, and mentioned directly in Hitler’s infamous Mein Kampf.
Would you believe that ‘Strong and Stable’ actually appears word for word?
Historical lessons aside, what we have now is a government that has all but picked up the reins of the previous government, now running with them side by side in policies that have not only been blurred into one, but that are coming from the very same right-wing playbook.
Indeed, the Tories may well have left office in name only, but this Labour party is a Labour party in name only as well. Why, they are so similar to the Tories now that it’s almost impossible to tell the two apart.
Keir Hardy, Clement Attlee, and Aneurin Bevan must be positively spinning in their graves…
