That was a trade union slogan in response to Churchill’s budget of 1925. When he delivered that budget in the House of Commons it was met with cheers by stupid Tory MPs. It’s real consequence was longer hours and less pay for working people. And the following year saw the General Strike.
You won’t hear much about this from Churchill worshippers.
Reeves tells us that Labour is the Party for Workers. That slogan is constantly repeated. She means that if you have not got a job Labour will find some way of punishing you. Offer to work longer hours for less pay and the Government will be right behind you, with a hammer in its hand in case you fail to sacrifice yourself.
In 1925 John Maynard Keynes wrote The Economic Consequences of Mr. Churchill. ‘Misleading’ was a prominent word.
The consequences of Rachel Reeves are the furtherance of Thatcher. “There is no such thing as society.” Under Corbyn Labour was the biggest party in Europe. Under Starmer and Reeves it has plummeted. “There is no such thing as socialism.” And in the General Election they received far fewer votes than Corbyn in 2017.
Party for Workers? Yes, if they sell themselves cheap.
