People were out in Heywood yesterday (Tuesday 10th Aug 21) to demonstrate about the £20.00 universal credit being stopped and the local MP supporting this. Signatures were taken and cards written by the public to show their anger at this payment being stopped.
Leaflets were also given out to people.

If this £20 per week is stopped from peoples universal credit, this will put a number of people at breaking point. To some people this £20.00 has been a lifesaver to them. They have been able to buy both food and fuel. We are going towards winter, Inflation is rising and fuel bills are going up and now they are cutting universal credit.
People were already desperate before the pandemic, but when the fuel prices are going up as well! In February 2021 there were over 1,300 Trussell Trust food banks in the UK, in addition to over 900 independent food banks. What is frightening though, is the fact that there should even be a need for food banks and that they seem to be the norm which it clearly should not be.

Posting into Clarkson’s office the cards written by the public opposing the cutting of £20.00 from Universal Credit
