Second time and still incompetent Education secretary Gavin Williamson has made a complete U turn over the messed up A level exam grading.
After insisting the botched results scheme would remain unchanged and cheated students would have to appeal their lower than expected grades, Gavin has abandoned all pretence of knowing what he is doing and agreed students will be given the grades estimated by teachers.

But his grudging admission of this latest foul up has come too late for many students who received lower grades than predicted and needed to hold their preferred university places. Those places have now been offered and taken by other students.
Gavin adopted a King Canute role in trying to deny the incoming tide of complaints, even after the Scottish government abandoned the same faulty scheme.
Angry parents launched a campaign to take legal action to challenge the new procedure and then hundreds placard waving youngsters descended on London, and outside Gavin’s deserted constituency office in Codsall, Staffordshire, chanting ‘Get Gav Gone’.

Appearing utterly incompetent is not new for Gav. When he was Defence minister in the May government, he became a laughing stock when he sternly told China that he would park the UK’s still to be completed aircraft carrier in the disputed Sea of China – even though the carrier has no fighter jets!
