Boris Johnson has been fired – AGAIN. This time from a Channel 4 US election special for trying to shamelessly plug his new book, claiming, “There’s absolutely nothing you can do to stop me… I’m allowed to plug my book.”
Host, Krishnan Guru-Murthy called the act, “So Cheap” and told Mr Johnson to “put it away” and “stop it, enough”, as he twice referenced his new book and attempted to hold it up to viewers.
Johnson of course, that ever bombastic bastion of free speech and unmitigated privilege, did not let it go, and whilst later discussing a possible political comeback and his meeting with Trump after his attempted assassination, reminded the audience once again, “In case I failed to mention this, I am promoting my book Unleashed, and I had a talk with him about Ukraine”
Co-host Emily Maitlis then told him, “We are not all going to read your book, so just tell us, do you want to have a political comeback. You can’t actually answer a single question.”
Johnson, quite rightly was eventually ousted from the show, but whether that was even staged by him to further plug his book, or whether it was a general inability of the hosts to deal with all of the bombast, is uncertain. Needless to say though, certain Johnson quotes are now coming to light from this somewhat unsavoury incident of self-promotion and ego, such as :-
“It is possible to have a pretty good life and career being a leech and a parasite in the media world, gadding about from TV studio to TV studio, writing inconsequential pieces and having a good time”
Well, he was right about that at least…
